Social Capital Markets Conference

SOCAP is the largest annual social entrepreneurship and impact investing conference in the world, hosting close to 3,000 people who run charitable foundations and related organizations each year. The conference has covered a range of major topics over the years, and brings together entrepreneurs, academics, investors, and foundations to focus on how private capital can have a positive and productive impact across the globe. 

InterGroup Institute Chair George Halvorson spoke at the conference this year to help charitable foundations that make grants for social services to better understand the importance of brain development for children in their first three months and first three years of life.

Children who have the right interactions with the adults in their lives in those early time frames are likelier to be healthier, happier, and better learners than the children who do not have those same advantages and interactions in those key months and years. Very few of the charitable foundations know that science or those processes.
